Living up the cycle of the seasons

Spring Equinox - South Hemisphere

LIVING UP THE ENERGY OF THE SEASONS - DON'T RUN AWAY FROM THE CYCLES

The circular dance of the Earth around the Sun is the primary cause of cycles in our lives. The combination of two sidereal movements is responsible for the seasons: the rotation that our planet makes around its tilted axis that, at a given time of the year during the rotation around the Sun tilts the southern or northern hemisphere towards him, then the summer happens and is winter in the opposite hemisphere, as it is further away from solar rays exposure. Autumn and spring are the transition seasons wherein, at the equinoxes, the same amount of light and shadow share the 24 hours(circadian cycle), the estimated time for the Earth's rotation around its axis. In autumn the strength of light begins to fade, transitioning to a darker period, the winter. In spring, the energy of sunlight begins to increase, leading to a brighter time, the summer. The closer to the tropics, the more defined the seasons, and in general on the equator the seasons are defined in two phases, the dry season and the monsoon. So, the macrocosmic spatial movement unfolds the seasons, which directly influence us here in our microcosm, our lives right here and right now.

It's of major importance to experience all seasons, the organic transition intimately connected with our internal cycles, and obviously the reality external to us. To experience each one in such a way that our physical, mental, spiritual/energetic and emotional bodies can feel and receive the teachings and gifts that each one has to offer. Even cause each one of these bodies is connected with a season. Living in flesh, thought, spirit and emotions in such a way that we merge with the cosmic movement of Mother Earth. Once living organisms in Nature, we were designed to flow with these four annual phases because we are cells of this planet, both living organisms pulsing their own vibrations and being influenced by these cycles.

Autumn is the time when the natural world is moving towards introspection, where energy gradually decays and everything that 'dies' is given over to the renewing power of the Earth to be transformed into something new or transmuted into another form of energy. Autumn is the season where the magic of nature's cycles reveals its vital function: letting die to opening the way for the renewal of life. The element of this season is the earth, to which we turn and give thanks for everything that has been given to us – collecting the last harvest – just as ancient peoples did, and figuratively honouring everything we harvested or conquered in the past cycle. The animals also store food and save energy to prepare for winter. The body to be worked on is the physical body. It's time to let go of habits that don't serve our health, to rest and preserve the body for a new cycle. It is also in the autumn that we honour our ancestors and redeem the teachings passed on by them. The realm to be acknowledged in autumn is the mineral realm, our first ancestor's beings of Earth. It is interesting to note that those relatives who came before us are naturally closer to death or have already transitioned to the spiritual plane and may have already reincarnated on Earth again to start a new cycle. In other words, Ancestry has incredible resonance with the energy of autumn.

With the arrival of winter, all nature is in restoration, in energy-saving mode. Stillness reigns. Like other seasons, it is essential to live and to receive the best that winter can offer us so that we can enjoy the coming seasons with beauty because without its passage it would be impossible to have spring and summer. The prevalence of cold and darkness puts all natural life in a state of torpor. The frost or layer of snow keeps the seeds underground and prepares them to sprout in spring. Animals also spend more time in their burrows underground or nests in trees awaiting the return of abundance. Naturally, the element of winter is the air, which with its icy breath keeps everything static and still. As almost nothing moves in winter, this is the perfect time to reflect and set the stage for what is to come. Just as snow reflects the sun's rays, the winter air helps us to reflect and bring to light good thoughts to plan for the future. It is the best time of the year to study and nurture your intellect. The more oxygenated the brain, the better we think. That's why the body to be worked on in winter is the mental body. The cold of winter is essential to recognize the need to still and honour the plan of Nature, which is also our divine consciousness. A lot can be done in the winter in terms of planning without us having to move too much, we just need to be smart. Without the cold it would be impossible to recognize the heat of summer because polarities in nature teach us that everything is interdependent, opposites are not actually opposites: they are complements of each other.

For being long-awaited, spring is considered by many to be one of the dearest seasons, as it marks the return of the prevalence of light and the reproduction of life. In spring everything is blooming and becoming attractive, the flowers release pollen conveying the message of sex in nature for the procreation of abundance. Animals sense the auspicious time to mate. The rays of the Sun penetrate the Earth with greater incidence, as in a sexual act, causing the progressive increase of heat as an ignition for the generation of life. Hence the element of spring is fire, and the realm to be honoured is the spiritual realm. Like the fire of the spirit, spring cannot be controlled, it simply explodes in a thousand colours of exuberance and beauty. Spring is the season when the warmth of the fire in nature creates life. Without the spirit, nothing can be animated. It is with this fire within that in spring we have the power to create anything. This inner sun of ours, the heart, which impregnates matter. Kept secret and transmitted through subliminal messages in the sacred books of the world's great religions and spiritual traditions - which is nothing more than the observation of natural laws - it is now known that sexuality, besides conceiving the miracle of life is in truth the most powerful creative force in the universe. The energy of spring urges us to be the creativity. The body to be worked on is the spiritual body, or for those who are sceptical, the energetic body. Like spirit, the foundation for all that exists is energy, and spring teaches us how we can direct our energy, or spirit, towards creating whatever we wish to manifest and flourish in our lives.

The passage of previous seasons then culminates at the apex of summer. It is the most intense phase of the seasons, as everything in Nature is alive, full of freshness, and abundance. It is the time of fruitfulness. The plant kingdom is honoured in this season as it is at the climax of its production and beauty, the trees are full of fruits and the plants are giving seeds, life already established abounds everywhere. The high levels of energy and the intensity of the summer’s heat indicate that emotions are at the forefront, so the emotional body is the driving force of this powerful season. Summer for us is the time of year when we are willing to do everything, it's as if the heat fills us with vitality to reap the fruits of our actions. Because of this freshness, the element to work with in the summer is water, which helps us balance and flow with our emotions, as well as physically attenuating the strong heat. During the summer we shower more often, we go to the beach, we swim in the river, we drink lots of water. It is interesting to note how the intense energy brought by the heat of the male light of the Sun is balanced by the female waters of the Earth. Summer is the time to have fun, play with life and enjoy all the abundance of Nature. That's why in summer we awaken our inner child, the true innocence of being one with Creation.

All stations are connected: one serves the other in perfect cyclical harmony. Summer generates the fruits to be harvested and seeds to be kept underground during the autumn. Autumn with its detachment lets goes of what must die in the natural world to renew and prepare the Earth for winter, which in its wise stillness lays the groundwork for planning the boom of life in spring. With the season of flowers, the creative process paves the way for the intense abundance of summer. And so it all begins again, in an endless circle of profound beauty and sacredness. Experiencing the seasons in their entirety is to synchronize with the flow of the natural laws, to be engaged with what is most sacred: Nature.

So don't give preference to one season or another, don't run away from winter to rush to live in the summer. Don't create disgust for autumn in favour of spring. Trying to avoid one of the seasons is going against the cyclical process of our being, which is made up of phases. The more we align with the passing of the seasons, the more chances we have to enjoy a fuller, happier life in communion with the natural world.
